The rest of the watch has an open dial displaying the inner movement of the watch & displaying some of the immediately recognizable Breguet innovations, such as the "pare-chute", this feature protects the balance pivot from cracking during shock (such as a drop or a minor knock). Since the balance pivot is easily breakable, the parachute allows for a smaller and differently shaped pivot, which is mounted on a spring plate, which allows room for play, thus protecting this crucial pivot from breaking.
